2015 La Jolla Christmas Parade & Holiday Festival

Get out and celebrate 100 years of Christmas cheer with the rest of the La Jolla community!

Who?

Numerous local La Jolla businesses and families are sponsoring this year’s parade! Ann Kerr Bache is the Event Chair, and here’s where you can check out a list of this year’s La Jolla Christmas Parade sponsors. Know anyone?

What?

Awesome classic cars, beautifully decorated floats, bands blasting festive tunes, and much more will roam the streets of La Jolla! Kids can expend all of their energy at the obstacle course, or get their faces painted while adults sit back, and listen to the Pacific Coast Harmony Chorus, Stella Maris Academy Star Singers, and multiple other artists. Santa will even make an appearance for those who want a photo. Here’s where you can find the full schedule for the La Jolla Holiday Festival.

When?

The parade will start promptly at 1:30 PM on Sunday, December 6th. The festival kicks off at 2 PM. Children are free to start exploring the Kids Zone where they can meet Kung Fu Panda, jump around in a bounce house, take pony rides, and much more! The festival will end around 4:30 PM for the lighting of the Christmas tree.

Where?

The festival will take place at the La Jolla Recreation Center Park located at 615 Prospect Street! The parade will start at the intersection of Girard Avenue and Klein Street, travel down Girard Avenue, hang a left onto Prospect Street, and end at the Recreation Center Park.

Why?

Your children will have a blast, and be ready for a nap by the time the festival is over! If you don’t have children, you can check out booths from local businesses, listen to great bands, and even adopt a pet from FOCAS! Sunday will be an all-around great day for everyone who comes out.

The San Diego Holiday Half Marathon

We live in San Diego...arguably one of the best places to train for a long distance runner. We get to enjoy perfect weather, and running routes full of ocean vistas, and views of magnificent ocean-front homes. Why wait until the New Year to start on those resolutions to be healthier?

Who?

TriFeul is the official course sponsor for this year’s race.

What?

The 3rd Annual San Diego Holiday Half Marathon! If you’re looking to beat your best time, this is the race for you. The Holiday Half features a 714 foot elevation drop, making it perfect for setting personal records! Registration is currently $109.

The race will take place on December 27th, at 7:30 AM. Bibs can be picked up at the Road Runner Sports Expo at 5553 Copley Drive on Saturday, December 26th from 11 AM to 8 PM. The Salvation Army Children’s Education Foundation will be accepting non-perishable food items at bib pick up. Get into the holiday spirit and bring a can or two to donate to the less fortunate!

Where?

The starting line is located at the Doubletree Golf Resort, 14455 Penasquitos Drive. There will be bus transportation to take you to and from the race if you prefer to pass on parking. Additionally, 7 hydration stations are positioned throughout the course to keep participants healthy. The course will head South on Carmel Mountain Road and end at Torrey Pines State Beach.

Why?

Aside from awards for the top 4 male and female finishers, those who complete the race will go home with an awesome finisher’s medal, a sweet dry tech running shirt, and other awesome swag! You’ll get a great workout, and maybe meet more people who share your passion for running. Only 3,500 runners are allowed to register, and the race is already at 80% capacity! This race sells out each year, so you better sign up fast!
